An Opportunist?

An online dictionary describes an opportunist as one who takes advantage of an opportunity to achieve an end, often with no regard for principles or consequences.  With that in mind, I don't think we would want to be called an opportunist.  It has a negative connotation to it.  It's interesting because sometimes we are told to "seize the opportunity" thus making you an opportunist, right?  Seizing an opportunity has a positive ring to it.  I think...  Okay, I'm not trying to argue or start a debate of its definition so no debunking here but I'm going to admit, I was in a situation that I couldn't say no to this "opportunity" and I seized it.  Though it happened at an inopportune time (sadly to say), I've taken it and have been running with it for the last few days.  Intrigued?  Well, it's actually nonsense just like everything that I've posted here on my blog.  Haha!  It really has something to do with a certain feeling that came with this incident.  Right now, I would say it was unforgettable and it was associated with feelings of love, warmth, security, passion and I clearly remember when it happened -- it seemed like the world disappeared around me!  At this point, please take your mind out of the gutter.  Now, where was I?  Oh yes --- this feeling was given by someone who shouldn't really have given it in the first place but the thing is, I allowed it to happen.  I didn't see it coming.  No one did!  This is the opportunity that I've seized and kind of living on in the past few days.  It gives me such an enthralling feeling and I know that It will eventually die down because I said so.  =)  It is what it is, however, it's interesting how you can take an experience and live off of it (at least for a little while) - letting it inspire you and giving you hope that one day, that magical feeling will be reproduced.  Have you been on this type of enchanting and bewitching ride?  Oh I hope so because I want to read about it.  Please comment below and share!

What Do You Do For Fun?

There's a scene in The Notebook where Noah is trying to figure out what Allie does for fun.  Watching that scene on DVD last Saturday made me think about what I really do for fun.  Lately, I've been so preoccupied with work and volunteering at church that I haven't really done anything fun.  Is it because I actually have fun working and volunteering or have I let real fun slip away?  Since I moved to NYC, I've been trying to join a badminton club but a) it's not cheap and b) I'm afraid I won't find the time.  Obviously, I do have fun when I hang out with my friends like when we eat out, play catch up, have coffee, watch movies, etc, but that's a given.  So, what do you do for fun?

Feels like 2°

It is very cold this morning!  I mean it.  You would need gloves, hat, scarf, thermal underwear, etc., if you want to survive out there!  I hope you're keeping yourself warm this winter!

Dark Italian

Ooh la la!  Dark italian......roast!  This coffee from Starbucks was introduced to me by Uncle Dave and Auntie Grace last December.  I never liked Starbucks' strong, dark coffee but when I tried this, I actually really liked it.  Typically, I drink the Blonde but I surprise myself every now and then.  Don't we all?  I'm having this lovely coffee right now and this bag should last me for a while.  Try it.  You might like it.

Today is a reminder that YOU can lead the change and BE the change.  I admire his persistency and bravery!  Aahh!  Such an inspiring character!  I think the "promised land" is here in some ways (e.g. Obama, marriage equality, etc)... we are getting there but in the meantime, on this very day, help me say thank you to MLK, Jr!

Salmon Fishing in the Yemen

I just finished watching Salmon Fishing in the Yemen and I was quite pleased with it!  As a matter of fact, while watching, I spent 5 minutes ordering the book through Amazon.  It was only $5.99.  

I love this kind of movie - charming, witty, romantic and comedic.  Now, I'm easy to pleased with just about any movies so don't judge.  haha!  ...if you have time, check this movie out.  It may sparkle or revisit some of your dreams or wish list (if they're still not crossed off) because this movie might just give you a little kick to ponder on the impossible, definitely possible.  Enjoy!

Adam Wins!

I'm really bummed that I can't go to AMC's 2013 Best Picture Showcase on February 23rd.  All because of Adam Levine.  Ugh!  Why does Maroon 5's concert has to happen on the same day of the last showcase?  OK fine...Adam wins.  I guess I'm going to have to watch these movies somehow before the Oscar's.  So far, I've seen Les Mis.  I wanna see them all!

Hello, 2013!

Happy New Year!  

I've been thinking about a quote that would express how I feel about 2013 and just things in general and found this quote from Paulo Coelho several days ago.  What struck me the most is the message of love saving us.  With all the violence, natural calamities and simply pure heartaches that happened in 2012, I believe LOVE is the key in healing and rebuilding ourselves or our community but first we must seek it.  Because love inspires us and it makes us do beautiful things in unexpected ways.  So look around you, pause for a moment (or longer), listen to your heart and you'd be surprised - there's actually a lot of love within you and around you! Begin with being grateful for simply being alive!  This year, I hope you're ready to seek love.  Maybe not this very day but hopefully soon.  My advice is don't wait for another day for this positive force to manifest in your life.  Now is the time.  Now is the moment.
